Election & Raya event (0)

11:15 AM by , under

Assalamualaikum,

An update regarding the new committee election event. Since we cant find a room to accomodate the election, it has to be postponed. Most likely it'll be held by next week.

Meanwhile there are no changes for Raya event. It will proceed normally on this Friday 16th October from 6.30pm onwards at Darwin Missing Link. Food and drinks will be provided. But guests & society members are welcomed to bring food (especially kuih raya. that will be awesome). The tickets for the event will cost 3 pounds and can be bought on the spot.

Ok I think that is all what I've got in mind.

Cheers,
Milzam

Easter Picnic, Day Trip & Planet Lazer (0)

1:56 PM by , under

Hi guys

A few more days to go before the Easter holidays. I assume that everyone is busy with their deadlines as the end of spring term is coming to an end. Good luck with whatever you're trying to finish. Anyway, the society has planned a few events so that members can have something to do during the holidays:

1. Easter picnic
This will be held on Friday the 10th starting from 11-3pm. We gonna have a picnic on the field (close to Rutherford and Elliot). The theme will be beach party (wear anything that suits you since it is a sunny day). Food and beverages will be provided, but you can bring your own food.

2.Trip to Alton Towers/Thorpe park
We're planning to have a day trip probably on 20/4 or 21/4. Its either to Thorpe Park or Alton Towers, but it's unconfirmed yet so I've posted a poll for you to vote which place we should go. Polls will be closed by next week. And spaces will be limited as we're planning to take 20-30 people only. So let me know if you're interested.

Prices:(Thorpe Park): http://www.thorpepark.com/ticket-prices.php
(Alton Towers): http://www.altontowers.com/tickets/

3.Planet Lazer
Its like paintball, but its in a form of 'lazer tag'. See: http://www.planetlazer.co.uk/
The cost of entry is quite cheap and the place is near (Its in canterbury!), so let me know if anyone is interested

I think thats roughly what we had in mind. If there's any update I'll email you guys and post something on the blog. So keep checking your mail and the blog as well. Oh, dont forget to vote for Alton Towers or Thorpe Park for our day trip!

From Markaz (0)

6:54 AM by , under

This is a message from a friend of mine. A few days ago he attended a meeting by the Markaz mosque committees. They are requesting a help from our society to give them donations so that we can aid them financially in order to pay for the mosque. To donate you can go to Markaz and meet one of the committees there or just simply insert your money into one of the donation boxes. There is still a large amount of money for them to pay, so please kindly donate to them.

Thank you guys.

Inter Society Sports League (0)

4:25 AM by , under

Hi guys~ Happy new year! hope all of you had a great x'mas and still stayed conscious after the fun in new year~
I've been extremely lazy recently... I guess we all have been since it's the only holiday in the term where we can relax oursleves~ So OK! Back to business, I've tried my best to sort out the teams who're participating in the league, so here it goes;
Football
Teams participating: HK soc/ Thai soc/ MB soc/ CN soc (I am not so sure about the ABACUS foot ball team yet)
1st match: HK v Thai
2nd match: Thai v MB
3rd match: MB v HK
4th match: HK v CN
5th match: CN v Thai
6th match: MB v CN
We really need to know whether we can have 2 courts per day so we can get 2 matches finished at once. That'll be much easier. We're having each society to play with each other... this is what you call, round robin, right? i'm not so sure lol~ but as long as all of you agree that this would be the best way to handel it, we'll go for it and same as basketball and badminton.
_________________________________________________________________________
Basketball
Participating Teams: HK soc/ Thai soc/ MB soc/ CN soc (Again, I'm not sure will ABACUS be able to have a team ready by then)
1st match: HK v Thai
2nd match: Thai v MB
3rd match: MB v HK
4th match: HK v CN
5th match: CN v Thai
6th match: MB v CN
So, the same format for play. From my understandings, we can only have one court per play, so no matches can go on together. But it'll be good if we could have 2 games on going for a day. same game play format as football if anyone has any other suggestions.
__________________________________________________________________
Badminton
Participating Teams: HK soc/ Thai soc/ MB soc/ CN soc/ ABACUS
1st match: HK v Thai
2nd match: Thai v MB
3rd match: MB v HK
4th match: HK v CN
5th match: CN v Thai
6th match: Thai v ABACUS
7th match: ABACUS v CN
8th match: CN v MB
9th match: MB v HK
10th match: ABACUS v HK
11th match: MB v ABACUS
This one is soooo confusing or just despite on my stupidity!!! So... I've attached a table to this email... see how it'll work out. But there are things i need to know... and definetly another meeting asap when we got back after the holiday. I wanna know do all of you have girls for doubles and
singles. I really need to know all of your team status.
So, do you have girls for doubles and singles?
if so, how many?
Would you like to get the mixed doubles on going?
We need to have these information before we decide how are we gonna sort out the games and courts.
As scheduled, we do it after Chinese new year... But I know... it's a bit hasty since it's like, one week after... so I say, have the meeting at the 20th of January if everyone's fine.
Please reply this email asap so we can all get to know each other's availability~
Thanks again and lookin forward to your replies!!!
